This is a list of ACT Interest Groups that we know of in Australia and New Zealand. They are groups for professionals only. They are not open to interested members of the general public. Their purpose is to serve as a form of ongoing learning and support, and/or peer supervision. If your group is not listed below, please let us know.
SA

The Adelaide ACT Case Discussion Group Meets monthly on Monday nights (usually the first of the month unless a public holiday) from 5:30-7:30pm in the group room of the Centre for Treatment of Anxiety and Depression at 30 Anderson St Thebarton. The group is hosted by Dr Emma Hanieh and Mr Shane Curley. The group usually employs a workshop format consisting of an opening mindfulness exercise, a discussion of either a video or reading and the second half we split into 3s for experiential role-play. Members of all levels of experience are welcome to attend. We ask you bring with you in mind a client you are working with to role play or if you prefer, you can use your own personal experiences (you do not need to disclose that it is your experiences you are referring to). The remaining dates for 2011 are: August 1st, September 5th, October 10th, November 7th & December 5th.

The group is currently working through ACT made simple and incorporates a mindfulness activity and some experiential learning in each meeting.

The Sunshine Coast ACT Interest Group Meetings are held on Wednesday nights about every 5 weeks and commences at 7pm. Anyone interested in attending should contact Madonna Hirning - mhirning@tpg.com.au. Meetings are held in Marcoola. Sunshine Coast meets every 5 or so weeks on a Wednesday night at 6.50pm for a 7pm start. They are just finishing working through Learning ACT and are looking at moving onto ACT made Simple. They discuss workshops and training people have been to.

Gold Coast meet once every six weeks and have added a peer supervision element to their group for the last hour which allows members to talk individually to one other member (1/2 hour each) on any aspect of their work.
