 Upcoming Workshops

 I. Ongoing Workshops Australia AND New Zealand Wide 2012

ACT Two-Day Introductory Workshop (ACT Training: Part1) aka ACT Made Simple via Russ Harris, M.D.

Russ' two-day workshop is part 1 of a four-day training program, (the advanced workshop is part 2).The introductory workshop is very experiential, and useful for both therapists and coaches. Each workshop is guided by three core values: simplicity, clarity, and accessibility (there's also a big emphasis on having fun). You will experience a wide variety of ACT exercises, and you will be encouraged to work with your own personal issues. You will be lead through these exercises in the same way as you would instruct them to your clients. You will also receive extensive support materials (more so than in any other ACT training around the world) including a free copy of Russ's ACT-based self-help book 'The Happiness Trap' and a professionally-recorded mindfulness CD.

Duration: workshops run from 9am - 4.30pm on day 1, 9am - 4.00pm on day 2.

Locations: In Australia - Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney; in New Zealand - Auckland & Wellington

FEBRUARY

The Compassionate Use of Exposure Strategies in ACT: A 1-day Masterclass with John Forsyth, Ph.D.

ACT teaches clients how to be with their hurts and do what works-to live well, richly, and meaningfully, without first having to defeat or eliminate sources of emotional and psychological pain. This is often challenging for both therapists and clients alike, and without a solid grounding in the compassionate use of exposure, these efforts can easily fail or backfire.

This workshop will use a combination of didactic and experiential activities. The exercises will highlight a gentle and compassionate stance when using exposure strategies in the context of mindfulness, acceptance, and values work. Participants will be encouraged (but never forced or coerced) to engage the material at a personal level, as it applies to their own lives, and then also in the context of their clinical work. Worksheets and other practical tools will be provided.
